We entered Yellowstone via the Northeast gate at Silver Gate.
Since we couldn’t check in to our cabin until 4PM, we decided to go around the upper loop on our way to Canyon Village and our cabin for the next 2 nights.
After entering the park, we drove thru Lamar Valley and saw lots of bison and a few deer.
Off and on all day, we had rain. When we approached Mammoth Hot Springs, the weather cleared and we were able to see some of the hot springs.
Then it was on to Norris Geyser Basin. After viewing a few geysers, we headed toward Canyon as we were both getting pretty tired by now.
I got talking to our waiter at dinner and found out he was from east Tennessee…small world!!! Also, I found out from him that I could get cell service!!!!! I’m not isolated like I thought!!!
Called my friend, Rich. Asked him to research what GPS we should look to buy. He did better than that..checked on Garmin….found we only needed to reset our Garmin and gave me instructions on how to do it. IT WORKED. Thank you Rich!!!!

This morning we were off at 6:15am on the Yellowstone Yellow Bus “Wake up the wildlife” tour. It was a lot of fun but unfortunately it went back to Lamar Valley so essentially we toured the same area we toured yesterday. Really didn’t see much more wildlife but our guide was able to point our a few bears but they were so far away that they could only be seen thru high power binoculars. We did drive over Dunraven Pass(8859 ft) and stopped to view Tower Falls.
Our dinner was a “Cowboy Cookout”. Charlie liked it better than I did. The night started at the Roosevelt Corral. From there, we rode the wagons out to Paradise Valley where we had a real cookout with country singing. Some of the people for the cookout rode horses out in to the valley. We chose the wagon. Unfortunately, it was rainy and COLD…other than that, the food was good and we did have a good time.
